GUNS (11/3)

I am weary of the expression "Guns Don't Kill" passed off as logical by the NRA and its supporters. It is NOT logical. Guns are inanimate objects, which shoot bullets. The expression "Guns Don't Kill" personifies the guns but guns are NOT people. Guns are the means used by people to kill. A rock, knife, bare fist, car or many other instruments can be used to kill. The effectiveness of the instrument determines its lethality, as does its availability. A man armed with a flintlock per the original intention of the 2nd Amendment was not very effective except where there were men firing together in ranks.

The greater the availability of modern rifles, the greater their lethality exponentially. Logically, the more guns per head of population will result in more deaths however well trained and screened the gun owners. The proof lies in the different death rates from firearms in countries that control access to guns (the majority) and those that don't. US 12 deaths per 100,000 (2016), UK 1 per 100,000, Japan 0.01 etc. The logic? Control access to guns and fewer people will die. Arming everyone will increase the death the toll. Control would save lives. It's only logical.
