TRUMP & PUTIN

Watching Trump engage in playful badinage with Putin made the hairs on the back of my neck rise in horror. I felt as if I was re-witnessing that fateful spectacle of Adolf Hitler shaking hands and smiling with Sir Neville Chamberlain only worse. Chamberlin never recognized the evil that Hitler represented. Signing a deal with him was making a pact with the devil. Now it seems all sorts of men of the Hitler ilk, those who happily order the murder of journalists and wayward citizens, imprison at will, occupy countries, confine large numbers of their citizens in re-education camps, subvert their own legal systems, use cheap propaganda to bolster themselves politically, and have a trained following of adoring sycophants are friends with our President. It appears he can relate to them and they to him. How long I ask myself will America sleep? How long will these fascinations with the politically grotesque last before a love of freedom and a hatred of tyranny reignite? A question I keep asking myself and have no answer.
