By the end of 2007, after years of laissez faire fiscal policy, Republicans took us into a deep dark financial hole. Lehman Brothers was ditched. Major banks on a knife edge were about to go. The system was at the point of collapse and we changed administrations. A Democratic Congress with the help of vast amounts of taxpayer money, pulled the whole system out of the quagmire and started us back on the road to financial health. How soon everyone forgets! How soon the siren songs of free money, free this, free that echo through advertising. The sharks are out again looking for victims, the old, the poor, the intellectually fragile, and the stupid. The motto? "Fools and their money are easily parted." Feral capitalism, the mainstay of our system, is alive and well. Rules meant to protect are once again tossed aside. Those with the power - politicians, the media, the rich - manipulate the system to their advantage and continue their merry way. They know that if a problem arises the government prints more money. Ask Mnuchin how he got his. The poor eke out a living depending on food banks, and handouts. I don't think this is the America envisaged by the Founding Fathers.
