Floods, plagues of locusts, disease, declining species, massive fires, melting glaciers, rising sea levels... even an American population with its minimal education ought to catch on at some time. Or is it too late? The facts are overwhelming or should be, but like good little lemmings with blindfolds on, we go about our daily lives without a thought. More plastic, more drilling for fossil fuels, more stuff, more cars, drive more, fly more, get bigger houses, more houses, use more water, and so it goes on and on. The voices of the scientists and the facts are lost in the wind. By the time everyone wakes up it will be too late. Shakespeare got it right: "Our natures do pursue a thirsty evil, like rats than ravin down their proper bane (poison) and when we drink we die." Luckily for the planet the human life span averages around 65 years so it has time to recover and try something different. Hopefully. To paraphrase the Python song about the universe - let's pray there's intelligent life out there because there's bugger all here on earth. RIP.
