Floods, fires and coronaviruses.... welcome to the future... or the present. You do not change the climate of the planet without consequences and now we are right in the middle of those consequences. The new coronavirus epidemic is not a one off, it is the new future, the product of our wanton and mindless pursuit of material comfort at the expense of the environment. We can all keep pretending that it isn't happening, that it's containable and a temporary glitch but there's too much evidence out there accumulating, too many indications that tell as that our home, our little old planet earth is changing and that we are the ones changing it. The consequences of the rising temperatures of the atmosphere and seas are altering the biosphere in ways we never imagined. But, like the good lemmings we are, we will probably just keep going, keep driving our cars, keep filling our trashcans, keep consuming. Human beings have a wonderful capacity for self destruction, after all we don't actually last that long, 78 years. Who cares? The birds are the children of the dinosaurs. Perhaps we'll have children... in a couple of million years.
