It is interesting to watch a conservative editorial writer like Jon Gabriel covers his backside when exposed. First rule of thumb is never to admit fault. Second is to find someone to blame. Usually Gabriel blames the left wing, radical Democrats or the hostile press for any of the country's ills but today the loss of Georgia to Democrats was Trump's fault. The loss of Congress, Trump's fault. The attack on Congress was Giuliani's fault with help from McConnell and Pence. Gabriel himself is not responsible for the last four toxic years of Trump's Presidency or himself of promoting division or partisanship. He was for Trump's humming economy. Overnight Trump turned an Obama economy into a humming one. Gabriel only left the party because he feared Trump would start a foreign war. So much for his political convictions - to continue as commentator it's important to establish one's bonafides especially when the wind starts blowing in a different direction. Finally though lamenting Trump's actions giving power to "Democrats, Never Trumpers and a hostile press" Gabriel remains calm. Though if Trump is Caesar crossing the Rubicon who on earth is Brutus who stabs him in the back?
