I felt sorry for your letter writer Ray Esperanza. I can only assume that he may have been brought up on Fox News so he is unable to understand the nature of the corruption of the previous administration. If you know Trump's history, you will know he has spent a lifetime keeping one step ahead of the law and left a trail of debt and failed businesses in his wake. He is well practiced at it and has the money to pay an army of lawyers to keep him out of trouble. It's the minions who do his bidding who get caught and go to jail especially if they have any integrity. Trump has an instinct for involving those who are venal like himself and whose only motives are money or power.

A simple way of calculating how corrupt he is, is to count the numbers in his administration who have gone to jail or been indicted. Part of his desperation to stay in power is because he feels the tide may be turning against him. The evidence of his corruption is mounting. Deutsche Bank is going to want its money. His businesses are not doing well so he relies on contributions from those unable to see through his "snakeoilmanship." To be President again would save him hence the desperate attempts to undermine the justice department and election officials to try to prove the election of Biden was false.

All this seems fairly obvious if you keep reasonably abreast of the news. I am quietly delighted that our democracy in the face of January 6th has held. Men of integrity both Republican and Democrat have stood their ground. No, you will not undermine the legal authority of this land. You will not attack the Capitol without consequences. The rule of law will hold. Democracy must win. The truth will survive. We are one nation under God.... so we argue a bit. All families argue. Killing each other is not a solution. July 4th is coming up. The full force of the pandemic has been quelled. Let's put aside our differences, fire up the barbecue and celebrate.
