The dictionary defines the word shame as "a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior." Difficult to find any trace of that among Republicans these days particularly after the 6th of January. Certainly no evidence in our local Republican politicians. They have adopted Trump's mantra. Never admit you're wrong. To do so would be a sign of weakness. Swearing an oath to defend the Constitution? What's that? Supporting insurrectionists bent on murder and assassination? They were somebody else. Everything is fake news. I suppose if you are willing to keep repeating lies to yourself over and over again, you'll evetually believe them. As Republicans refuse to admit they lost the elections.... except when the votes were for them. The election was stolen. The voting machines were hacked. Quick! Let's change the voting laws in our favor. Perhaps concentration camps never really existed. All very sad. No consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. No shame. No feelings of humiliation or distress. No conscience. "Moral bankruptcy - a state a person reaches when he trades away or violates his core moral values and commitments."
