Your appeal to Ducey "to protect schools and our children" is laudable though akin to closing the barn door months after the horses left. Our Governor's policies on Covid 19 from the start have been to politicize the issue and to follow the lead of his mentor. Feeling responsible or accountable for the policies which have resulted in almost 20,000 deaths of Arizonans does not appear to impinge on Ducey's moral awareness. I have not read of him lamenting the loss of life while he toured the border or hidden in his bunker. Perhaps he prays hard for forgiveness at church. I assumed he is following the Stalin philosophy of "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of thousands is a statistic." That the general public in Arizona is so tolerant is also laudable. By newspapers treating him with kid gloves, avoiding serious discussion of the issues and encouraging him to keep the economy going at the expense of human lives has brought us to the present tragic situation where we are still fighting the pandemic. Early lockdowns, widespread testing, isolating outbreaks, mandatory vaccinations would have saved lives and dollars. Our nurses and those risking their lives deserve better.
