Far be it for me to counter the voice of a recognised editorial writer but if "National divorce is a poisonously stupid idea," why is Rich Lowry writing about it at length? If he wants to write about poisonously stupid ideas, would it not be more productive to write about some of the poison permeating our national airwaves or the streams of hatred spewed forth daily on the internet? What about racism, lies, misinformation and the way news outlets and individuals use that poison to prey on the gullible and enrich themselves? The real poison is where profits are put ahead of any moral consideration of the welfare of society and our democracy. On Jan. 6th a few good men stood between our elected representatives and a mob bent on the overthrow of our newly elected government. He could also attack the Republican audit in Arizona as a good example of poison, the victim in this case being people's faith in democracy. Election officials in Arizona and Georgia stood firm. If Lowry wants to fight the poison - let him go no further than these.
