THE CULT OF TRUMP (5/25)

The supporters of the ex-President are swayed neither by logic nor reason. They have become a cult with Trump, a messiah, leading his people to a promised land. Destroying Congress, hanging Mike Pence, recounting the ballots will not satisfy them. Only Trump back in the White House surrounded by grifters would mollify them. Like a modern day version of Miller's play The Crucible, there needs to be a hanging or a burning of good men and women in order to purge their anger at the dark forces they see destroying America. What Trump tapped into emotionally was something deep in the inherited, religious unconscious of the American soul. Forget the age of reason or science or plain old facts. Trump can do no wrong. Those who opposed him must have committed the worst crime imaginable - sexually predating children. The supporters will not be happy until they have drawn blood. If the Arizona audit comes out against them, it was rigged. If it doesn't they were right. Doesn't matter. They win either way. Watching America burn is now their only satisfaction. Only in the purging of the emotions of pity and terror will they find peace. Good people have two weapons - the facts and the truth.
