WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING (7/04)

I take exception to your letter writer, Sharon Robert's statement that "I doubt we can do anything about it (global warming) at this point." This is just not true. Human beings do not take up much energy. Each individual's consumption of fossil fuels determines CO2 levels. It is OUR problem and if we begin recognizing it and if each of us, on a daily basis, reduces our carbon footprint, we can start building a better future for our children and solve the problem of global warming. To do nothing is just to accept disaster. Look at your trash. It's made up mainly of oil products or paper. Reduce the amount of both and your carbon use goes down. Drive less. Fly less. Waste less. Consume less. Buy from companies who monitor their carbon footprint. Pressure your elected officials. Carbon use will go down when fewer trees are cut down and more oil is left in the ground. Less CO2 means less heating of the atmosphere. Buy an electric car. Use solar heating/cooling. Plant trees. Walk or get a bike. Take the train. Be environmentally conscious. If we each do this, we will begin to solve the problem. We got ourselves in this mess. We can get ourselves out. We all needed to start…yesterday.
