HEART OF DARKNESS (2/20)

Biden called Putin "a killer." Probably a gross understatement given what Putin appears to be planning. Putin's desire to use some of the most sophisticated and destructive weapons in the world which tear body and flesh into small pieces against Ukrainians is because he feels threatened by NATO. Does he lay his head on his pillow at night and sleep well? Does the horror of mutilated body parts of Ukrainian and Russian soldiers bother his dreams or does he think only of his own glory. Didn't Stalin save the Soviet Union from the Germans? An estimated 40 million Russians died. Does Putin calculate the numbers of women and children who must die for the idea that political power depends on you being able to destroy more of them than they can of you. Does he care? The horror of his vision, its barbarism is beyond human scale. This is power wielded for its own sake without restraint and by one man. Forget compassion. We inhabit one planet, one territory but the leader of one tribe feels under attack so he will kill the members of another tribe. This is beyond barbarism or horror. This is Heart of Darkness though compared to Putin, Kurtz is an amateur. The death of others means nothing.
