I think reality just caught up with Jonah Goldberg and now he has all the answers and all the conclusions and none of the perspective. Just for the record. Ukraine is NOT Afghanistan. Biden knew we should not be there and got us out. End of Story. Syria is not Ukraine either. Ukraine is about democracy, about the right of all its people to determine their futures and vote in free and fair elections. The Ukrainians are defending their democracy against communist dictatorship. It is that simple. Why is Goldberg so surprised? Germany is a democracy. The world is made up of people who largely prefer democracy and when it comes to it will fight for it when sufficiently goaded. Remember Churchill? Has Goldberg forgotten? Perhaps he has forgotten the President of Ukraine is Jewish. Perhaps he has forgotten what democracy does when confronted with totalitarianism and fascism. "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall never surrender." It's called freedom. It has to be fought for. Thousands of Americans died for it in the past and we, who believe in that democracy now stand behind the Ukrainian people.
