Education Standards (4/24)

"This Arizona high school landed the top spot in national U.S. News ranking" What do these rankings mean? What are the criteria? The article sounds like a band-aid placed on a suppurating wound to make the public feel good. One Grade 3 in an AP examination is a sign of academic attainment in the school? You must be joking. Arizona High Schools churn out failures. 43% of our students going to college never qualify for a degree after four years. The whole system is a joke. I worked in it for 20 years. Competent AP teachers are few and far between. It requires intelligence. What intelligent American is going to devote his life to teaching High School? A maximum salary of $80,000 after twenty years? Give me a break! Why should they condemn their family to relative poverty. For the sake of the country? Back in 1980 I was hired by The Singapore Government to teach Seniors to get them into Ivy League and Oxbridge. They paid me over $150,000 per annum with 25% bonus at the end of contract. International Baccalaureate? That indeed is a qualification which shows that students can "think." How many schools in Arizona teach it or have a teacher who can?
