A few months ago, while having lunch with a friend at a Phoenix restaurant, Kari Lake came and sat at the next table. At the time she had a case before the Arizona Supreme Court claiming election fraud. Her face looked gaunt, heavily made up with a putty-like complexion. She grimaced and looked sad. I wanted to go up and tell her to read Heart of Darkness, the Conrad classic. Would she understand Marlow when he said "There is a taint of death, a flavor of mortality in lies"? If you believe lies you destroy yourself, because you believe in a fake world. Our elections have been fair and as honest as possible, thanks to good men like Richer, himself a Republican. He refused to lie and kept the system honest. While some Republicans have told the truth, Trump lies constantly and he doesn't care. Lying is his form of politics, part of the deal. He and his supporters live in an alternative world. He is destroying himself and the lies are killing the Republican Party. The bubble must burst eventually. There is no migrant crime and immigration is keeping the economy expanding. Illegal immigrants pay billions in taxes and receive no benefits. The economy is as solid as it ever was and growing. America is strong and believes in itself. Lying is destructive at many levels.
