The present turmoil among those seeking to represent the Republican party at the next election would seem to reflect the moral ambiguity and confusion among the GOP in Congress. Nobody seems to know where it's going next. We have Republican Liz Cheney dissecting the right of her party with a verbal light saber and Representatives Gaetz and Greene and others holding the fort for the incumbent. Nobody seems to know what the GOP actually stands for. Definitely it's not the party of Lincoln. Meanwhile the US is chugging along, trying to put a few bandaids on the problems nobody can agree on and generally feeling fairly good about the economy. House prices are going up a bit, the stock market is on its usual precipice between Nirvana and Mordor and generally Americans are only mediumly pissed off by everything. Our young intellectuals in top universities, desperate to establish their political credibility, have decided to focus on the Palestine/Israeli conflict as cause for moral outrage. So where is the GOP? Nobody knows. Lost somewhere in a vast tropical rainforest perhaps looking for Kurtz. Is there an agenda? Are there any concrete proposals which might improve life for us all?
