There are as many theories about the failure to elect Kamala Harris as there are political commentators and most of them are probably valid in some way or other. One that I haven't read is that Americans by and large are poorly educated with many bordering on the illiterate. Few in the US see education in its true sense of the word, "to lead out" into knowledge and understanding. Most see education purely as a means to get a job and earn money. Ignorance is never seen in the US as a drawback so someone like Trump is considered a good reflection of American values. He makes money. Everything he does is about cash, a book, a hat, a university, another money making project. He is a restless, entrepreneurial spirit even when he himself has everything and takes advantage of his next situation to make more money. This is his only value of merit. This is the dynamic and Americans respect him for that. American capitalism of the Golden Age. Money is the only morality. History should teach us, however, that there are limits to this philosophy. Civilizations come and go. The Golden Age didn't last but great ideas do. America may be on the brink of "going."
