Geography is important. Where is Ukraine? Why is it important strategically? Russia's breadbasket? Access to Africa? Read about Catherine the Great. If you fail to understand and get it wrong, the consequences will come to the US. "Threats from within?" Read 1984 by George Orwell then Graham Greene's The Quiet American. Find parallels. You and your friend are the threat from "within" to the US and the world. Remember Nixon and Bush Junior and the chaos they unleashed? Get some well educated advisors, ones who do not have degrees in politics, cybersecurity or the law.
