The new President falling for the Netanyahu bait that the problems of Gaza can be solved by developing the Gaza coastline as a new Riviera is at best naive, at worst reveals a total lack of understanding of the politics of The Middle East. The area may well have great potential for hotel development but people, largely Muslim and Palestinian have lived there or tried to live there for many centuries. Gaza, originally part of Palestine, was turned into an enclave by Israel after the Second Israeli war, basically because Israel didn't know what to do with it. They would like nothing better than to de-populate it and establish Israeli settlements then move on to the occupation of the West Bank which they have half done already and establish The Kingdom of Judea. This is the Likud manifesto. This is one more step toward that goal. Trump understands hotels but cares nothing for a people subjected to colonialism, persecution or genocide. It's like telling him he should care about Native Americans. "Do they have any money?" Step by step we move further and further away from the ideals of the Founding Fathers who envisaged this country as a beacon of freedom from oppression.
