While a coup d'etat is going on in Washington, here in Arizona, far away from the center of power, Phil Boas is doing his editorial "thing" and finding excuses for Trump. This involves the careful manipulation of what he considers news. First there's the enemy to fight, a.k.a "liberals," "progressives," "Marxists," and Democrats in general who must be fought tooth and nail. Trump will defeat them apparently both at home or abroad. Boas elevates Trump to heroic status comparing him to Caesar and MacArthur and now Hercules. Boas describes Trump's approach as "muscular." The undercurrent of male heroic worship may stem from Boas' early days of LDS indoctrination where homosexuality was deemed sinful rather than biological. The White House, too, emanates a heavily "bro" image, young male techs busying themselves infiltrating the organs of power, and women appointees all looking like barbie dolls. Perhaps if Kamala Harris had adopted a more Thatcher-like persona with austere suits, and a handbag she would have had more appeal to the patriarchally inclined. Being the apologist will not change the sort of man Trump is or the harm he will do to the US.
