Because I Knew

I have never been one to believe in miracles,
Walking on water, raising from the dead
But the moment came
In a flash
Like a thunderbolt.
Jesus! I am in one.
I am right in the middle
Of a miracle
And I never knew it.
Just the breathing
Just
The being alive
And feeling it
And seeing it
All the nonsense
All the silly pain
And discomfort
The appetite
Just being here
And I never got it before
This miracle
And I wept
And it made everything different
Because I knew
I knew
The wonder
And I knew it was a miracle.
The tiniest of specks in a near infinity of space
And I knew it was the impossible
And a miracle.
