Life III

If you glance quickly to the left or right
You'll see its shadow slipping out of sight.

It's been there forever
Sitting
Just out of view
Treating your brain like a saddle
Pulling on the reins
Pushing the brakes
Always protesting innocence
When the accident occurs.

"It's not my fault.
You're in control.
I'm just trying to help."

You murdered it a hundred times
But it keeps on coming back to life.

If you glance quickly to the left or right
You'll see its shadow slipping out of sight.
