If you have Gods
Keep them close.
Choose good names
Which bring you comfort.

Gods, I am told, like repetition
And ritual so practice
Every day
To make sure
They feel at home.
You will feel so much better.

Pray regularly
To them.
You can address them personally
Do not feel ashamed.
They will not judge you.
They will even love you.

Think of them as listening
To you
Somewhere in your mind.
Or out there
In the air.

If you appoint others
Who favor your Gods
To talk on their behalf,
Give them money to survive
So that they may
More regularly talk
On your behalf
And devote their lives
To your God.

If you have Gods
Keep them close.
They are worth dying for.
And they will bring you comfort
In the darkening days.
