ruling the world

since the beginnings of time
men have tried to rule the world
either with an idea
or a fist

sometimes it worked
but Time passed
circumstances changed
people died

winds blew from different directions
seas ran dry
land flooded
crops failed

years limited the dream
and what seemed like power
turned into a bowl of soup
or an ice cube

sooner or later we'll be like Mars
red with embarrassment
or Venus just the swirlings
of hot green gas.

if I ruled the world
I would do what I'm doing
because I already rule it
don't you?

I can throw bolts of lightning
drown whole forests
exterminate penguins
build great cities

all is possible in my world
because I am my world
ruling it is easy
because it's everything I know
