The New America (7/20)

The present administration appears to be in some trouble. Do our leaders need a set of rules to guide their conduct? Rather than the more Christian Ten Commandments perhaps we could use the Seven Deadly Sins as a way of guiding and helping politicians and others find their way. Maybe they are ignorant of what these are, so a short refresher course might come in useful to save them burning in hell for all eternity. Pride, an excessive view of one's self without regard for others, is rampant at present. Greed? Love of gold? For some this is an insatiable desire. Judging from the underwear adverts, Lust is used as a major advertising tool and continues to bring even successful men such as Combs and the late Epstein to their knees. Envy, sadly, is a major motivational force in our drive for wealth rather than happiness, and to judge by the success of slimming drugs, Gluttony is doing well. Wrath, given the high murder rate, is ubiquitous. Sloth though, is not doing well. The majority of Americans have to work too hard just to make a decent living or afford health care.
