After three months of economic blackmail from our President, the world appears to be slowly catching on to his bluster and are learning that, as with any tyrant, smile sweetly, play dumb and promise everything to please his ego. He will hopefully go away after four years. That some of his victims in the great tariff war are poor and relatively powerless, i.e. Lesotho, will create a growing animus against the US. Who cares? We have bigger bombs than anyone else. "Speak softly and carry a big stick," a former president once said, now it's "Speak loudly and show them your big stick." The President has supporters in the press and middle America and in the tech industry and the ruling elite, all lending a hand, all ready to lick up the economic scraps that he doles out to loyal supporters from government coffers. Behind all the noise of his supporters and willing sycophants and right wing extremists you can hear the death rattle of the old America. Soon we're going to be like Russia and China, big, bossy and undemocratic, our judges and officials appointed by the leader while we make enemies of the world and promote graft, greed and lawlessness. Welcome to the New America. Good luck kids.
