First they came for immigrants
And I did not speak out.
They spent billions on an army of men with guns
And called it Homeland Security
Even though the homeland was secure.
Then they built prisons in the swamps
For those they claimed were enemies
Calling them and their children criminals
And I did not speak out.
Then the Supreme Court in the land
Gave their leader immunity
From all prosecutions
So he was free to do as he wanted
And I did not speak out.
They came for the socialists
And because I was not a socialist
I did not speak out.
They came for gay and transexual people
Because they were different
And I did not speak out.
Then they came for the universities
And cleansed them of anyone opposing their views
Then for the media
Forcing them to tell only the news
They wanted people to hear
And I spoke out quietly.
They cleansed schools of ideas
And made enemies of the world.
And by blackmail and extortion made themselves
And their supporters rich beyond belief.
They were cruel and shunned the poor and the sick
So that America would be seen as great again
And was capable of killing many people
Then I spoke out as loudly as one voice can
And then they came for me.
